Dog-friendly Gower Beaches

As a dog-owner ourselves, we know how important our four-legged friends are to family life. We know too, that our holidays wouldn’t be the same without our Labradoodle, Luna, in tow.

That’s why at Bayview we have a luxury, ground floor apartment that welcomes guests on two and four legs. From this summer 2020, we’ll have a brand new architect-designed luxury eco-friendly and pet-friendly 2-storey house that will do the same.

Gower is a dog-friendly destination too. Most of our beautiful beaches are open to dogs and sensible owners with poop-scoops, 365 days a year.

Starting local, you can walk with your dog from your accommodation at Bayview to the nearby two-and-a-half-mile sandy sweep of Oxwich Bay. You and your pet are free to stretch your legs on the flat beach, backed by beautiful dunes and cliff and sea views to die for, at any time of the year.

If you and your dog want to take in a different aspect of Gower, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the wild, Atlantic-facing bay of Rhossili. Park up and hit the five-mile beach. Walk as far as your legs will carry you. If you’re up for it, you can walk it all to the tidal island of Burry Holms and back. Again, this bay welcomes dogs all year, as does the mostly unpeopled bay of Broughton, in Llangennith. This is a favourite of ours: rock pools for our three girls and plenty of space for Luna to let off steam.

Go a little further by car, and you and your dog can explore the atmospheric, hidden gem of Pwll-du (Black Hole) set in the famed limestone cliffs of Gower’s south side. Pwll-du won’t disappoint and welcomes man and dog every day of the year.

So, if you and your pet are looking for a holiday where you’re free to roam, Bayview offers a great choice of options. Please call, to discuss which option is best for you and your dog.
