A Gower festival of great concerts in wonderful environments

Well the daffodils and primroses are out here at Bayview Oxwich heralding the arrival of spring. It’s hard to believe that summer will be here soon and with it the annual Gower Festival which takes place in the first two weeks of July.

We’re flagging it up now as this superb festival of music of the highest quality is highly anticipated. Tickets sell out fast for the exceptional array of internationally acclaimed musicians who grace Gower with their presence as they have been doing for over forty years!

Like the Gower Festival, our holiday rental properties of the highest quality are much in demand at this time of year, too. So if you’d like to combine a couple of days, or a week, or even a fortnight, of an exciting and varied menu of music in the superb acoustic and atmosphere of our ancient Gower churches with a stay in one of our exceptionally designed contemporary cottages, luxury apartments or our exclusive retreat, you’d better be quick as they’re filling up fast, too!

Bayview Oxwich makes a great base for you to enjoy the concerts and take in the wonderful Gower landscape too: the distinctive character of our churches and villages and the coastal landscape for which we are famed and earned us the UK’s first AONB designation back in 1956. From Llangennith to Llanrhidian, from Rhossili to Cheriton and from Three Crosses to Killay, marvel at our glorious churches as you enjoy a feast for the soul that includes accordion, piano, string quartet, lute and a Bach choir.

This year is very special for the Gower Festival, as Gower’s most famous son, world-famous composer and musician, Penclawdd-born Karl Jenkins CBE, will be marking his 80th birthday with a special evening in conversation with John Suchet at the King Arthur Hotel, on the village green at Reynoldston, on Thursday, 4th July. Again, you need to act fat if you wish to be part of this.

To learn more of the history of the Gower Festival, find out more about its President, Karl Jenkins and its Patrons, international pianist Llyr Williams and harpist, Catrin Finch, (once harpist to King Charles), and see all the venues, please visit the website at www.gowerfestival.org. Here you’ll also find details of the full two-week programme of events and details of how to book.

For details of how to book or find out more about our accommodation here at Bayview Oxwich, please contact Wanda and the Bayview Team who’ll be happy to help you with your requirements.

We look forward to welcoming you here soon.
