Beautiful Bridge Pottery Cheriton Gower
We hold our hands up at Bayview Oxwich that we’ve only just discovered Gower’s Bridge Pottery. Where have we been not to have known about – or been able to recommend it to our guests before now?
Bridge Pottery, run by Micki Schloessingk (and since 2017 with Chris Jenkins), is situated in the beautiful north Gower village of Cheriton, just a 15-min drive from us here in the south of the peninsula. The gallery, built of larch on oak stilts, designed by architect David Lea, sits in the stillness of the Bury Pill, and a step from the pristine dunes and forests of Whitford.
It’s the perfect location to let your creative juices flow and there are 2 making studios which offer 6-week courses for both beginners and those with experience as well as taster sessions designed for 2 people and lasting one and a half hours for you to get a feel if the potter’s life is the one for you. The courses are in demand and we are hoping to get to one soon.
The gallery is open to view during summer, Thursday – Saturday between 10.00 and 16.00. Here you’ll find an array of cups, cupping bowls, vases and pots created at Bridge Pottery. You can also browse and buy online www.mickischloessingk.co.uk
We’d recommend a trip to the gallery to buy a lovely keepsake of your time in Gower. You could combine the visit with lunch or supper at Llanmadoc’s award-winning The Britannia Inn, www.britanniagower.com or coffee and cake at Llanmadoc’s community shop for the people, run by the people – Siop y Bobl.
