On 11th September, 2023, Series 4, Episode 6 of Channel 4’s award-winning food series, Remarkable Places to Eat, focused entirely on south Wales, featuring Asador 44, The Black Bear and our very own Michelin-starred, The Beach House Restaurant, right here in Oxwich.

We’ve known ever since The Beach House Restaurant was in the hands of Head Chef, Hywel Griffith, that this very special beachside fine-dining experience was a truly remarkable place to eat and now the whole of the UK knows it too!

The episode made perfect viewing, showcasing not only the food, but the glorious weather and the fabulous scenery. First Date Star, Fred Sirieix and acclaimed chef and Wahaca co-founder, Thomasina Miers, were blown away by The Beach House Restaurant as they relished the signature Laverbread loaf, Oxwich Bay Lobster, Gower salt Marsh Lamb and Bara Brith soufflé with tea ice-cream. They also visited Gower Salt Marsh lamb local supplier, Will Pritchard at Weobley Castle.

There couldn’t have been any more superlatives said about The Beach House Restaurant: “The Region on a plate”, the cooking is out of this world”, “innovative fine-dining were just for starters, with Fred concluding with the following after his Gower lunch:

“I am so impressed, the weather, the setting, the food. What a restaurant, what an experience, it really blew me away from start to finish. The food was out of this world, the service is brilliant and look at the setting, I could be in heaven for all I know.”
