Winter Walks on the Gower peninsula, south Wales

Bayview, Oxwich recently came across a brilliant article written by Molly Dowrich, Senior Reporter at Wales Online, in which she selects 8 diverse winter walks you can take in Swansea and the Gower peninsula, south Wales.

Bayview offers luxury holiday accommodation on the south coast of the Gower peninsula, and is an ideal base from which to try just one, or all eight, of the suggested walks. You can lace up your boots in the day and come back to one of our 3 architect-designed Gower holiday cottages or 2 fantastic flats.

Some of the walks Molly describes are in iconic and well-known beauty spots of Gower, such as Rhossili Bay. Others are in more secret locations along paths less trodden such as Mill Wood, a sixteenth-century corn-mill on the Penrice Estate, just a step from Bayview, or out past our very own St. Illtyd’s church here in the village, through woodlands to reach the limestone headland of Oxwich Point.

Whether it’s a stroll along a promenade, or a trek along the coastal path or a pebbled beach, it’s all here in the Gower peninsula. And there’s no better time to enjoy a walk than in these last days of winter.

For detailed descriptions and wonderful photography of the following 8 walks, please visit https://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/most-beautiful-gower-walks-help-22502515

1.     Bishopston to Pwlldu Bay via Brandy Cover

2.     Caswell Bay to Langland Bay

3.     Oxwich Point

4.     Rhossili

5.     Mill Wood, Penrice

6.     Llanrhidian

7.     Llanmadoc

8.     Swansea to Mumbles Pier

Completely without bias, we’d like to draw your attention to the Llanrhidian walk as the image was taken by Ellen’s grandfather, Ted Froom, who lives in Llanrhidian and took the photograph of a Gower sunset over the Loughor Estuary through the standing stones on the village green. Not bad for 94, eh?
