The Gower Show 2023 – back to its original date!
It’s not long now until all of us at Bayview Oxwich can down tools and attend the much anticipated annual Gower Show. This year it takes place on its traditional date of the first Sunday in August which this year falls on the 6th. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled family day out in the beautiful grounds of the Penrice Estate, with its glorious aspect out over the Bristol Channel.
This much-loved and longstanding agricultural show has played a significant part in Gower’s heritage since 1906 and is one the key dates of the year in the Gower calendar offering a chance to witness the importance of farming and production in Gower’s rural economy.
The Show has a range of attractions and competition classes that will appeal to a wide range of interests, including those of our three girls with their love of horses and dogs:
Attractions:
Novelty dog show
Welsh horse yeomanry
Mini pony show
Invitational pony club gymkhana
Shire horse display
Vintage engine display
Tug-of-war competition
Competition classes:
Livestock
Horse classes
Poultry classes
Crops
Horticulture
Honey section
Cookery, handicraft and children’s classes
Stick competition
NEW woodwork section!
All this as well as the chance to eat, drink and chat with locals and visitors alike in one of the most glorious settings the Gower peninsula has to offer.
If you’re staying at one of our luxury holiday rental properties at Bayview, you can walk to the grounds within 10-minutes. Or take the car – plenty of space but not that much boarded or paved grass so wet weather can make it difficult for pushchair or wheel chair access.
