Mementos from Mumbles

At Bayview, Oxwich, we’re thrilled that our three brand-new, detached, luxury holiday rental houses will all be ready to rent by 2021. Tŷ Megan is already available, Tŷ Flo almost there, with Tŷ Alice not far behind. We really are proud of them (as we are our 3 girls whom they were named after) and our guests are loving the fabulous views that each offers, and the wonderful interior specifications.

The views are courtesy of the Gower peninsula, the UK’s’ first AONB and we take no credit there, but credit does go to the very talented Nia, www.niainteriordesign.co.uk who us worked closely with the team at Bayview on the interiors. Although each house is the same in terms of quality, each has a slightly different vibe in terms of colour palette and soft furnishings. All finishing touches have been carefully selected to create a seaside feel and a unique sense of place.

At the heart of everything we try and do at Bayview, is a commitment to sustainability. Integral to this is an aim to buy local and support businesses in Gower, Mumbles and Wales as a whole.

And with this in mind, here are two very special galleries in Mumbles:

Oyster Gallery

www.oystergallery.net

Oyster Gallery is a family-run gallery which has been at the heart of Mumbles for over thirty years.

Here you’ll find original artwork and prints of the local area as well as much more. If you’re a fan of candles, clothing, and chocolate, this is your place. Or if you’re looking for jewellery, leather and fabric shoulder bags, photo frames, you’ll find them here.

Oyster Gallery has been the source of many of the furnishings you’ll find at Bayview – mirrors, rugs, throws, cushions and table lamps as well as ceramics, glass ware and plates and jugs.

Gower Gallery

www.gowergallery.co.uk

This treasure trove of original artworks, prints, sculpture, homeware, jewellery and accessories, has been a name in Mumbles for decades. Originally situated in Newton Road, it has now expanded and provides a wonderful space and hub for the community opposite Mumbles’ newly developed foreshore.

Owned and run by Arwen Banning, the gallery showcases a variety of artists with their own particular take on Gower’s natural beauty – including work by Arwen herself and her father, Ron. It also sells prints by big-name artists such as Michele Scragg and Valerie Ganz

It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for a little piece of Gower to take home with you when your time at Bayview is over. A memento of a wonderful place to holiday and a reminder to come again.

Christmas

Both galleries are magical places to find that special Christmas gift that will give pleasure all year long. Gower Gallery also offers an online shop and delivery service across the UK.
