Countdown to the opening of the Gower Deli!

The logo is out in the world, the café has been fitted out, and the tables are going in. At Bayview Oxwich we’re so excited to share the news that the Gower Deli at Southgate, Pennard, will soon be open for business this August.

We can’t wait for Gower’s latest addition to the food and drink scene, as we know it’s going to be fabulous. Owner, Christos Georgakis, is a favourite of ours at Bayview Oxwich as for years he has been a familiar sight at Gower’s farmers’ markets where he has been seen with his Greek pop-up food stands showcasing quality, locally sourced foods from Gower farms. He’s also known for his private chef skills, catering for dinner parties across south Wales for over five years – including here at Bayview Oxwich.

Christos, who is a former Masterchef (Professional) contestant, is now “realising a dream” and opening his first physical business. The Gower Deli is what he calls a “proper” deli, a high-end deli/bakery/café which will be Greek-influenced and sell seasonal meat and produce from our lovely, local Gower farms. He will also be selling high-quality cheeses, cured meats, traditional dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven, and artisan sandwiches made from scratch with the wonderful bread sourced from Little Valley Bakery (another of our favourites) at the Heritage Centre in Parkmill.

The Deli/Café will be open Wednesdays-Sundays during the daytime. Thursday evenings will see a Greek street food pop-up, and Friday and Saturdays evenings will feature unique wine-tasting experiences.

We hope that whets your appetite. As for us we can’t wait to visit to experience Christos’s deli which we know will be reflective of Gower’s rustic charm and the quality produce that it’s so famed for. It’s yet another example of the varied range of food and drink offerings that are putting Gower well and truly on the UK foodie scene.

Just a 15-min drive from Bayview Oxwich, the Gower Deli is in the south Gower village of Southgate, Pennard, famed for its rugged cliffs, moody castle, golf course – and easy parking!
