Local Gower Food

During these uncertain times, at Bayview we’re still open for business – our luxury apartments with private entrances, having been deep-cleaned and disinfected.

What is amazing is that many of our wonderful local Gower food and beverage producers, artisan bakeries and restaurants have been delivering direct to the doorstep at Bayview. So if you’re a foodie looking for a special taste of what Gower has to offer, now, or when the world gets back to normal, then you’re in for a treat.

Our local Michelin star restaurant, Beach House, Oxwich is one of these and is offering selected fine dishes to order, cooked by Chef Patron, Hywel Griffith, with the fabulous signature laverbread bread included. See www.beachhouseoxwich.co.uk for details. We’re planning to take advantage of this on Mothers’ Day so that we don’t miss out on what they usually offer directly on the beachfront at Oxwich.

Little Village Bakery

Here’s a list of local suppliers and restaurants some of whom have online shops and are delivering, including Tuckers Butchers, Little Valley Bakery and The Choice is Yours. Check the links for status:

We’re crossing our fingers too, that for the third successive year, the Gower Food Festival will take place at Gower Heritage Centre, Parkmill – just a ten minute, and very easy drive, from us here at Bayview, Oxwich.

For two days over the long Spring Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 24th May and Monday 25th May) the Centre will offer a chance to sample all that’s best from Gower’s local producers of food and beverages. From Brownies to Breweries, Pate to Pizzas, Cakes to Chicken and even Delicatessen, it will all be here for you and your family to sample and even take it away (perhaps bring it back to one of our chalets or luxury apartments here  at Bayview) and at the same time, support our local growers.

The event will not disappoint and promises not only local food, but an array of activities for the whole family to keep everyone entertained. For example, there’s a tour of the historic mill, the chance to feed animals, to watch blacksmith and glass-blowing demonstrations, as well as craft, pottery and puppet-making workshops. For the competitive among you, there are quizzes; and for the active, a play area and animal park, as well as story-telling for the little ones.

Come and experience a taste (blas in Welsh) of Gower. Please contact us for accommodation availability or to talk through any queries you might have as to which is the best option for your particular needs.
