Happy Birthday to Wales Coast Path

The Wales Coast Path celebrates its 10th anniversary this year so we’d like to say Happy Birthday/Penblwydd Hapus from all the Team at Bayview, Oxwich.

This birthday is a good reason to once again celebrate this unique coast path, the only path in the world to hug the coast of a country in its entirety. Our path in Wales, takes you from Chepstow in the south-east to Chepstow in the north-west, along 870 miles of stunning and varied coastal landscapes.

Its unique offering has recently been flagged up in a BBC article www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-6133062 where it is described as an ‘Mother Nature’s rollercoaster’ referring not only to the physical positives derived from walking, but also the  mental wellbeing and healing achieved by interacting with the beauty of the Welsh seascape.

The Wales Coast Path has certainly taken Wales to the world, and brought the world to Wales, with visitors from outside Wales accounting for 38% of walkers.

Visitors to our luxury, holiday rental accommodation at Bayview, Oxwich can enjoy a fabulous 38 mile stretch of the Wales Coast Path that runs around the whole of the Gower peninsula. In such a compact but diverse peninsula, you can walk along glorious sandy beaches, clamber across dramatic limestone cliffs, amble across the salt marshes of the northern estuary shoreline, scale pristine sand dunes and encounter a diversity of wildlife along the way.

You don’t have to walk it all if you don’t want to, but the fittest can cover the complete length in about 2 days. Just dip in to sections that match your fitness – the path is graded from easy to challenging so you can take your pick.

Start from your base here at Bayview and perhaps walk the flat, sandy shore from Tor Bay back to Oxwich Bay, passing the National Nature Reserve. Carry on to the beautiful church of St Illtyd and meander through ancient woodland out to Oxwich Point. It’s one of our favourites though we might be a little biased!

Or go a little further and explore other sections – www.visitswanseabay.com/walking-in-swansea-bay/walking-routes-in-swansea-mumbles-and-gower/gower-coast-path has a downloadable guide to the whole Gower section of the path, giving all the information you’ll need. Some parts of the path are also accessible by pushchair and wheelchair and all parts are waymarked with the distinctive white dragon-tailed seashell on a blue background bearing the words ‘Llwybr Arfordir Cymru – Wales Coast Path’.

Bayview, Oxwich offers you a warm welcome/croeso cynnes so come and stretch your legs and soothe your mind, while walking the Gower Coast Path. To discuss which of our luxury, coastal, rental properties is best for your needs, please contact Wanda and the Team here at Bayview who’ll be happy to help.
