Bayview’s top 5 places to eat in Gower
It seems timely that Visit Wales designated the year 2020 as one to experience all the best that Wales has to offer in the great outdoors, long before COVID-19 and social distancing became a part of everyday life.
So it’s good to announce that since early July many of Bayview Oxwich’s favourite local eateries in Gower have been open for al fresco dining. And now we’re excited that since 2nd August, Welsh Government has given the go-ahead for restaurants and cafés here in Gower, and Wales as a whole, to re-open inside – subject to them following latest government and hospitality guidelines to keep customers safe and happy.
We’ve already booked for our local restaurant and we’re looking forward to returning to our other favourite haunts soon. We thought we’d share our top 5 places where you can eat inside and out, taste great food, and feast your eyes on some of the best views in the UK.
1. The Beach House Restaurant, Oxwich
You can walk from your luxury holiday home or apartment here at Bayview to this 1 Michelin star, 3 AA Rosette, AA restaurant of the year 2018-2019, right on the sand at Oxwich Bay. Hywel Griffith and his team are back at the helm serving their much-talked-about tasting and a la carte menus (and signature laverbread bread) in the safe and spacious interior, or on the outside terrace. Top quality food. Locally sourced. They have been awarded the #wearegoodtogomark by Visit Wales, a guarantee that they are meeting all the regulations in these ‘new normal’ times.

2. The Oxwich Bay Hotel, Oxwich
Again, this award-winning restaurant and bistro is set on beautiful Oxwich Bay just seconds from the breath-taking beach. The Oxwich Bay Hotel has an outside seating area with fabulous views and an inside area should weather be bad. They also operate a take-away service should you wish to eat in your own holiday rental at Bayview. Pre-booking is essential and they are operating a cashless payment policy to minimise contact and protect guests. Again, they have been awarded Visit Wales’ #wearegoodtogomark

3. The King Arthur Hotel, Reynoldston
Just a ten minute drive away from Bayview, Oxwich you’ll find this charming, traditional country pub on the village green at the heart of Reynoldston. It serves a host of traditional ales and wonderful pub grub. The pub has extensive gardens and is open daily from 12pm-8pm. No bookings for outside space necessary as it’s on a first-come first-served basis and food is ordered by table number. If weather is poor and inside space full, they offer an extensive take-away menu.

At the Ship you can enjoy local sea food, a fun atmosphere and good value. Take it from us, they have fabulous pizza take-aways too.
