Tuckers Butchers – locally sourced Gower meat

Not everything has been tough during lockdown here at Bayview, Oxwich. Though we have been sad not to share our range of luxury holiday rental properties with visitors, the situation has provided the catalyst for us to discover the wealth of quality local food suppliers right here on our doorstep in Gower.

So though we can’t share our properties and private grounds with you at the moment, we can share our thoughts on one such fabulous meat supplier who has kept us wonderfully fed for the last twelve weeks. Now that we’ve found this local treasure, we won’t be stopping buying the quality produce when things return to the ‘new normal’.

Tuckers Butchers is a brand synonymous with traditional butchery practices, modern cutting styles and high quality cuts of Gower meat, sourced from local Gower pastures. The meat guarantees full traceability from farm to fork, and is available from the original quaint Tuckers Butchers shop, run by Paul Tucker, in Penclawdd (established 1984) and from the newer, contemporary style shop in Newton Road, Mumbles, set up by Paul’s son, Philip Tucker, in 2017.

We’ve been ‘click and collecting’ during the lockdown and also having meat and the fabulous ready-made meals they prepare delivered to our doorstep via the online shop www.tuckersbutchers.com.

This is a service you and your family and friends can enjoy too when you come to stay in our brand new eco-houses, our luxury apartments and our cottages.

For inside dining, they offer the full works, including game, gammon, beef, poultry, pork, Gower’s famous salt-marsh lamb and speciality meat-boxes to order.

For alfresco eating from the barbeque, they offer an extensive range of award-winning meats ready to sizzle, such as dry-aged steaks, burgers, kebabs, koftas, ribs, their renown sausages as well as marinated meats and skewered meats.
