Self-catering holidays by the sea in Gower
Self-catering doesn’t necessarily mean swapping standing behind your own stove in your own kitchen for standing behind another in a kitchen you don’t know. Here at Bayview Oxwich, we can offer you self-catering holidays with as much, or as little, catering for yourself as you wish. And in surroundings here in the Gower peninsula that surely offer the best views of sea and countryside from any kitchen in the UK!
All of our five luxury holiday rental properties (two apartments and three contemporary cottages) have high-spec kitchens to satisfy the most discerning chefs and entertainers, and ample space to serve up a formal feast or a quick snack to friends and family.
Lots of our guests have given a wide interpretation to self-catering. Some have taken advantage of the bounty of local artisan producers of foods and beverages we’re so lucky to be blessed with in Gower and bought quality ingredients back to Bayview. Take for example traditional breads, cakes and croissants from the Little Valley Bakery in the nearby village of Parkmill; or fabulous sea food, including prawns, lobster, crab and cockles from Selwyn’s Seafood in Penclawdd; or meat from the wonderful Tuckers Butchers in Mumbles.
Others have taken full advantage of the village stores and off-licence we have here in Oxwich thedunescafeandshop.co.uk and stocked up with an array of basic needs or dropped in for the occasional sandwich or fish and chips. And don’t forget that guests here at Bayview are welcome to take delivery of a ‘big shop’ with the main delivery services of Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda.
You can be your own chef for as long as you stay, or treat yourself to the array of chef talent we have just a walk away at the Michelin Star The Beach House Restaurant, headed up by the fabulous, Hywel Griffith, star of the Great British Menu, or at the Oxwich Bay Hotel.
We are spoiled for choice for pubs and eateries here in Gower so when you don’t want to self-cater full-time, head for nearby King Arthur Hotel on the village green in Reynoldston, the Ship Inn in the famous smuggling village of Port Eynon, or the Kings Head Hotel in the surfing village of Llangennith.
Some of the guests who have come to Bayview for the ultimate chill-out and celebration have even hired their own chefs for the occasion who have been overwhelmed with the facilities they have enjoyed in our kitchens.
Wanda and the Bayview Team will be happy to talk through all our self-catering property options with you and give you advice on which suits you and your particular needs. They can also arrange for you to be put in touch with our preferred outside caterer, Julie, and wonderful chef, Christophe. Bon appetit!
