What’s great about Gower?

At Bayview we sometimes take the glorious Gower peninsula for granted. Guests who stay with us in our luxury holiday rental properties, tell us that Gower’s got the lot – everything you need for a family or couples holiday by the sea. So perhaps now’s a good a time as ever to remind ourselves just what we’re blessed with.

Surf beaches to sunset beaches – Gower has them all
Gower gets many accolades and firsts, so let’s start with it being the first UK designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) back in 1956. Not a lot has changed – the beautiful safe and sandy beaches and secluded secret coves are still as magnificent and unspoiled. Take your pick. If you want to swim, surf, or sail, you can do it all in this compact peninsula, just 19miles long. Or if you want dramatic limestone cliffs, deserted estuary shores, or accessible upland areas that give you 360 degree vistas across south Wales, we’ve got that too. Add in sunsets at world-famous best beach Rhossili that are voted the best in the UK and factor in ancient castles and churches.

Fantastic for walking – 39 mile stretch of the unique Wales Coast Path
Another first is the unique Wales Coast Path that hugs the coast around the whole of Wales. Gower has a 39 mile stretch that offers walkers of all abilities to experience the peninsula on foot. From paved promenades to tough terrain, you can choose your own challenge but all will delight the eye and the soul and improve physical and mental wellbeing.

Great local Gower food, drink and artisan produce
If it’s great food, drink and artisan produce you’re after, Gower boasts that too for all price points. From informal sea-shacks cooking first class sea food to cafés at the water’s edge, you’ll find that here too. Plus, we are delighted to point you in the direction of Gower’s first Michelin Star restaurant just a five-minute walk from Bayview at The Beach House Restaurant.

You’ll find so much produce that proudly flies the Brand Gower flag: Gower artisan bread, delicious brownies, cockles and laverbread, salt marsh lamb as well as locally crafted beers and gins.

Gower’s got a whole lot more that’s great for you to discover (including Golf courses galore), but this should give a taste and whet your appetite.

Please contact Wanda and the Team at Bayview who’ll be happy to tell you more and discuss which of our contemporary cottages and luxury apartments would be best for you.
